The UBC Youth Circle is pleased to present Indigenous role model Trevor Mack on December 12, 2012 from 1 to 3 p.m. Trevor is Tsilhqot’in from Williams Lake, BC. He is a writer, and award-winning director (filmmaker) or as he calls himself, a storyteller.

Trevor began video editing in 2005 while he was still in high school. He started with editing videos of people playing the popular video game Halo with montages accompanied by music. This type of editing requires close attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture and visualize the end result, from audio-video synchronization to understanding mood and feel and reviewing hundreds of different clips.
This early editing work allowed Trevor to learn a variety of techniques and programs, including video editing and compositing which currently are Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Virtual Dub. Since then, he has taught himself how to use these programs very proficiently.
Since 2005, his montages have garnered more than one million views via the Internet. He also works with a freelance group called Viral Design. He has travelled to Dallas, Texas and other events to shoot video and do photography for various companies.
Trevor has also developed a keen interest in photography. He picked up his first SLR camera in 2007 and since then he has invested money in buying his first DSLR which was a Canon Rebel XS. He is now using a Canon 5D Mark II for professional and recreational work.
Trevor is currently attending Capilano University’s ‘Motion Picture Arts’ program in Vancouver where he is pursuing his Bachelor’s degree and is interested in freelance contract work. If you click “The Blanketing” page you will also find that he is creating his very first professional, official short film.
