The UBC Learning Circle is pleased to welcome Elder Gerry Oleman as he presents a special Aboriginal Youth Learning Circle on Indigenous youth wellness. Gerry believes that with the rising incidence of youth violence, drug abuse, and gangs, youth wellness is one of the going concerns of Indigenous communities today. He will be discussing the need to start to form approaches to working with youth and their families. Gerry is involved with the Provincial Health Service Authority‘s Indigenous Youth Wellness project, and will talk about this unique, interactive upstream health promotion and suicide prevention on-line training program.
All youth and anyone who works with youth are welcome to attend and participate in this FREE live videoconference and computer webinar session.

About the Presenter
Saahiilthit (Gerry) Oleman has worked with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society since 1998. He is from Seaton Lake and of the Stl’atl’imx Nation. He has been involved as a change agent for First Nations since 1976. His experiences include counseling for community addictions programs, providing leadership politically and administratively for his community and Nation, and working as an independent consultant.
